Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics
IPICS have introduced the Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course. These online interactive meetings will be delivered in the evenings by an APICS recognised Instructor.
The Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course has been designed by ASCM (APICS) to reduce knowledge gaps, use standard terminology developed by the industry and enhance internal communications across the extended supply chain.
The Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course is suitable for supply chain professionals:

As part of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) collect maintenance points for your existing APICS CPIM, CSCP or CLTD Certifications
Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
The Online Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) course is built on pre-course homework, this is a pre-requisite to be able to actively participate and deepen knowledge.
The classes cover the complete FDL course, facilitiate discussions among students and allow them to clarify topics related to the actual class.
Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) covers the following modules:
Module 1: Operations Management
Module 2: Introduction to Distribution and Logistics
Module 3: Channel Network Design
Module 4: Inventory Management
Module 5: Distribution Requirements Planning
Module 6: Warehouse Management
Module 7: Packaging and Materials Handling
Module 8: Transportation Management
Module 9: Transportation Operations
The FDL Online classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm include the following:
Nine two-hour hour online classes from 7pm to 9pm Dublin / London time on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for Foundations of Distribution and Logistics (FDL) by an officially recognised APICS instructor, course dates for 2024 to be announced.
ASCM FDL e-Learning System: including Instructor-led slides, Case Studies accompanied with a series of questions and quizzes facilitating discussion, Online access for one year
APICS Dictionary App can be downloaded to your smartphone
Online supply chain simulation activity is used to achieve a good understanding of supply chain trade-offs and achieve a positive return on investment (ROI)
Class size minimum of 5 to a maximum class size of 15
Course price is €1095 per course participant (this course price includes Joint ASCM / IPICS Membership with no discounts of €100)
Each course participant is entitled to collect 27 certification maintenance points towards maintaining an already existing APICS certification. However, the course participant will have access to all the five Foundations of Supply Chain Management courses and upon completion of all five online courses a total of 135 certification maintenance points can be collected.
